This year’s edition of the Alabang Country Club’s Mango Tee, slated 29 January to 3 February, will have a new format to refresh the famed member-guest tournament which has been running for 36 years now.
Teams will be playing aggregate for their first round and then best-ball for the second as a nod to the team events played in the LPGA.
Organizers said they have a maximum field of 372 teams which will play via shotgun tee-off on 29 January at 6 a.m.; 1 February at 12 noon; 30 January at 6 a.m.; 2 February at 12 noon; 31 January at 6 a.m.; and 3 February at 12 noon.
There will be an overall net and overall gross champion, and prizes for top two finishers in four handicap divisions.
A sponsors’ tournament will kick off this year’s staging on 22 January. The event backers are expected to be joined by Alabang board of directors, Mango Tee committee members and special guests in an 18-hole best-ball competition.
The tournament sponsors are Petron Corporation, Smart Communications, Jewelmer as presenters. Major sponsors are GG&A Clubshares, VMJEGMCC, RCBC, Filigree, Golf Depot, Pacsports and K&G.
Hole-in-one sponsors are Mitsubishi Motors/Citimotors, Inc., Mercedes-Benz, Gamboa & Sons, G&W Clubshares, ICON Golf & Sports, Srixon, Ogawa Massage Chair.
