Decorated setter Kim Fajardo aims to get back into her old form and help new team PLDT to a breakthrough Premier Volleyball League podium finish.
Known for her championship pedigree from high school, collegiate and club ranks, Fajardo is a great addition to the High Speed Hitters’ quest to break into the top three in what could be the league’s toughest and competitive season yet.
The club formally announced Fajardo’s transfer from the disbanded F2 Logistics on Friday as PLDT shifts its preparation for the 17 February opening into high gear.
Fajardo was a vital cog in the Cargo Movers’ five titles and won six Best Setter awards in the defunct Philippine Superliga.
She, however, struggled with injuries in the past few years. But with a new environment to work with, Fajardo is hopeful of a better showing this time.
“I want to get back to my old game condition. I know I can, through proper mindset and guidance of my new coaches and teammates. It’s exciting and challenging at the same time,” the De La Salle University product said.
Fajardo also reunites with former college and F2 Logistics teammate PLDT skipper Mika Reyes. She will also be playing alongside seasoned playmaker and fellow former national team setter Rhea Dimaculangan.
Fajardo is also looking forward to spreading her wings with a different club after spending seven years with F2 Logistics.
“I like the challenge of a new system. I also want to learn more,” the 30-year-old playmaker from Calatagan, Batangas said.
PLDT is also expected to formally introduce other new recruits in former Cargo Movers Majoy Baron and Kim Kianna Dy.
The Rald Ricafort-mentored High Speed Hitters earlier released Michelle Morente, Mean Mendrez and Anj Legacion.
