Uratex Dream opened the year with a bang after scoring a podium finish in the Jumpshot 3×3 International Tournament women’s division at Bukit Panjang Plaza in Singapore over the weekend.
The quartet of Kaye Pingol, Sam Harada, Mikka Cacho, and Eunique Chan fought tooth and nail in their first stint of the year to pocket the bronze medal in the 10-team field.
Uratex strung three straight wins after recovering from a 21-16 defeat to eventual champion CT Tigers of Thailand in its opening game to finish second in Pool B.
Pingol got things going for the Filipinas with a 21-12 rout of Regina of Singapore before cruising to a 21-10 drubbing of another host squad BAS Women B. The Dream capped the pool play with a close-shaved 19-18 escape over Malaysia Rising Star.
Uratex fell short in the semis after bowing to powerhouse Yokohama Gflow of Japan, 14-21.
Meanwhile, Uratex Tibay wound up third in Pool A after their 1-3 card to miss out on a semifinal ticket.
It was a much-needed warm-up tournament for the Uratex teams as they prime up for the prestigious Manila Hustle 3×3 Season 2 next month.
On the other hand, TNT Triple Giga reached the quarterfinals of the men’s division before falling to BAS Men B, 19-17, in overtime.
