Quiban retakes Asian Tour card

Filipino Justin Quiban coasted along with a 73 on the fifth and final round Saturday and secured his spot for this season’s Asian Tour.

Quiban, who held top spot after fourth round, finished tied for fourth with a 14-under 344, six shots off eventual winner Kristoffer Broberg of Sweden who made a 66.

The Filipino had rounds of 69-68-70-64 in the Asian Tour Qualifying School which concluded at the Springfield Royal Country Club in Hua Hin, Thailand.

Japan’s Shogenji Tatsunori fired a 67 to wind up second, two shots off Broberg.

Thirty-five Asian Tour cards were offered for this year’s highly lucrative and season- long Asian Tour schedule which starts next month at the IRS Prima Malaysian Open.

Quiban ended 86th on last year’s Asian Tour Order of Merit, to lose his card.
