Nicole Gan got an explosive start Friday, firing a five-under-par 67 to impose a three-shot lead in Girls’ Class C of the Asian Junior Masters at the Black Mountain Golf Club in Hua Hin, Thailand.
With four straight birdies in the front nine, there was no stopping the Immaculate Conception Academy stalwart who now leads China’s Xu Ningyao who had a 70.
Right after winning the individual top honors of Junior Golf Foundation of the Philippines Interschool, Gan carried the fervor after birdieing from No. 3 to No. 6 and then scoring on the 9th, 11th and 17th. She bogeyed Nos. 5 and 10.
Precious Zaragosa is tied for fifth after a 75 in the same category.
Edison Tabalin is tied for eighth in Class A Boys after a 76, while Miko Granada is T13 following a 78.
Shinichi Suzuki turned in a three-under-par 69 for sixth place in Class B Boys, while Tristan Padilla was 20th following a 75.
Ryuji Suzuki carded a 73 to grab a share of sixth place, while Race Manhit was two shots further for a share of 11th place.
In Class B Girls, Aerin Chan is at fourth place after a 73, while Alessandra Mauricio was T8 after an 82.
