The Philippine national boxing team has a chance to take home gold medals in the Boxam International Tournament in La Nucia, Spain as Olympians Rogen Ladon and Nesthy Petecio as well as Aira Villegas and Hergie Bacyadan made it to the final of their respective weight divisions.
This was a big win for the Filipino pugs as they will take home at least a silver medal in the tournament which serves as a preparation for the 2024 Paris Olympics.
Petecio, a silver medalist in the Tokyo Summer Games, marched to the final of the women’s featherweight division after the corner of Ana Marija Milisic of Switzerland threw in the towel.
Ladon scored a split decision over Mexican pug Ari Bonilla in the men’s flyweight division to make it to the gold medal match.
Southeast Asian Games gold medalist Bacyadan barged to the final of the women’s middleweight division after defeating Citalli Ortiz of Mexico.
Villegas also made it to the gold medal bout of the women’s women’s light flyweight class after defeating Kelsey Oakley of England.
