Once again, San Miguel Beer’s firepower was in full display and it caused heavy damage anew on the league’s No.1 defensive team Magnolia.
The Beermen dominated from start to finish to score an emphatic 109-85 victory in Game 2 Sunday in the Philippine Basketball Association Commissioner’s Cup.
Before another good-sized crowd at the Mall of Asia Arena, the Beermen reasserted their might behind another productive offensive night from Bennie Boatwright and solid contributions from CJ Perez, Marcio Lassiter, June Mar Fajardo and Jericho Cruz.
Perez finished with 20 points, six rebounds, four assists and completed five steals. Fajardo came away with 19 points and pulled down 14 boards while blocking two shots.
“We’re happy because we played as a team. We just have to polish on our tendency to relax for about two to three minutes,” said San Miguel coach Jorge Gallent. “But that’s the nature of basketball.”
The high-scoring Beermen were simply able to get their game going while the Hotshots could not provide the same amount of intensity they showed in the series opener.
