Honda Philippines’ recent participation in the 16th Inside Racing Grand Prix (“IRGPXVI: Legends Are Forever”) was an excellent opportunity in making its sponsored riders ready for future competitions.

For HPI, the IRGPXVI, held on 15-17 December 2023 at the Tarlac Circuit Hill, is an important part of the company’s “Road to Champion” campaign for on-road sports as it exposes its riders to domestic racing competitions.

JAKOB Sablaya, just 18-years-old, is one of the country’s most promising young motorcycle racers.

HPI is currently sponsoring two of the country’s most promising young motorcycle racers: Jakob Sablaya and Alfonsi Daquigan. Riding for Honda Project M Koby Racing Team, the 18-year-old Sablaya finished third in the MotoIR Grand Prix using a Honda CBR150R. Meanwhile, he achieved second place in the Super Sports 300 Grand Prix on a CBR300R race bike.

As for 14-year-old Alfonsi Daquigan, he got the Pole Position Award at the MotoIR Grand Prix race category. He races for the Sharp Honda SCK Philippines Racing Team with his CBR150R.

For Honda Philippines, both riders have shown their potential as future international riders.

Despite competing with older and more experienced riders, Sablaya showed his skills with the Supra GTR150. He finished fourth in the Underbone Limited, and seventh in the Underbone Open race category.

HPI president Sayaka Arai said: “We are very happy with the results and efforts of both Sablaya and Daquigan as their performances are truly indicative of a job well done. Honda is honored to support young riders who are achieving their dream of becoming a champion.’’
