Showing the grit and determination beyond her years, Reese Allyson Ng birdied the final hole of the tourney to claim the Asian Junior Masters Girls’ Class A title on Sunday.
The 16-year-old national team mainstay scored on the 18th to quell the challenge by Chinese opponent Shixin Kang by one shot in the thrilling showdown.
A 10th grader at British School Manila, Ng finished one-under 215 over the past three days following the even-par 72 closing round.
Her performance was front and center of the impressive showing of the Filipino delegation at the Black Mountain Golf Club in Hua Hin, Thailand.
Junior golf standout Nicole Gan snared a share of second place in the Girls’ Class C after a two-under total and closing round of two-over-par 74.
Emilio Gabriel Hernandez was tied for third in Boys’ Class C with two-under total.
Lia Rosca also grabbed a share of third place, finishing five-over behind Ng and Kang.
The same way with Shinichi Suzuki whose 77 on the last round salvaged solo third place in Boys’ Class B.
In Girls Class B, Lia Duque wound up with a 75 for fourth place.
Miko Granada placed fifth and Edison Tabalin a share of sixth in Boys’ Class A.
Race Manhit ended up tied for seventh in Boys’ Class D, while Alexandra Kay Mauricio was solo eighth in the Girls’ side.
