The Philippine national boxing team will remain in Spain for a training camp to prepare for the 2024 Boxing 1st World Qualification Tournament opening on 29 February in Busto Arsizio, Italy.
Association of Boxing Alliances of the Philippines secretary general Marcus Manalo told Daily Tribune that the Filipinos will train in Alicante for more than three weeks.
They will then fly to Italy for the tournament which serves as a qualifier for the 2024 Paris Olympics.
“We’ll stay in Spain for training camp then straight to Italy for the 1st World Qualifiers,” Manalo said.
The Filipino pugs bagged four gold medals at the 2024 Boxam Elite Tournament over the weekend.
Tokyo Summer Games silver medalist Nesthy Petecio was victorious in the women’s featherweight, 2016 Rio de Janeiro Games pug Rogen Ladon ruled the men’s flyweight, 2018 Southeast Asian Games bronze medalist Aira Villegas topped the women’s light flyweight while Hergie Bacyadan won in the women’s middleweight.
