Teng, Trollano thrilled to win title

Jeron Teng is moving closer to a dream that his dad, Alvin, achieved with San Miguel Beer: A Philippine Basketball Association title.

Teng, who was traded from Converge at the start of the season, is thrilled by the idea of winning his first PBA crown as the Beermen have inched towards beating Magnolia in their Commissioner’s Cup best-of-seven finals series.

Game 3 is still being played at press time with the Beermen enjoying a 2-0 series lead.

But Teng doesn’t want to get carried away by the excitement, knowing that the series is still far from over and the job is not yet done.

“It feels good when you’re winning, but it’s only up to a certain time you can celebrate until you win the championship,” said Teng, whose father was part of the great San Miguel squad that won the grand slam in 1989.

“We haven’t won anything yet and the focus is still intact. There’s nothing to celebrate yet and we know we have a lot of work to do.”

Like Teng, Don Trollano, one of the Beermen’s new acquisitions, is equally excited about the possibility of winning his first PBA title since 2016.

Trollano was part of the package in the multi-player trades with Robert Bolick being the centerpiece of the series of transactions.

With San Miguel, Trollano immediately found himself contending for the title and he couldn’t be more excited.

“I’m very thankful, I’m back in the finals,” Trollano said.

“You’ve been working so hard in practice just to see how far you can go. Now, I’m playing back in the finals.”

Trollano last won a championship while playing for an independent team, Rain or Shine coached by Yeng Guiao in the 2016 Commissioner’s Cup.

Now Trollano is on the cusp of becoming a champion as a Beerman.

“I know that being traded to San Miguel will give me an opportunity of becoming a champion as they’ve been here many times before,” Trollano said.

“These guys, June Mar (Fajardo), Marcio (Lassiter), Chris (Ross), they know how to win.”
