Kaya FC-Iloilo announced two new signings over the weekend to boost its title defense in this year’s Philippines Football League.
Japanese forward Shuto Komaki is set to be one of the squad’s goalscoring options after Daizo Horikoshi’s departure to Trat FC in Thailand.
The 23-year-old forward is expected to be a great asset for the Lions after helping Albirex Niigata Singapore FC to the 2023 Singapore Premier League.
“Fresh off a championship season with Albirex Niigata in Singapore, the dynamic winger’s set his sights on the PFL stage!” the Lions posted on social media.
Playing 27 games in Singapore, Komaki scored eight goals and grabbed 11 assists for Albirex Niigata and is set to link up with Jarvey Gayoso, Robert Lopez Mendy and team captain Jovin Bedic.
Kaya also strengthened its midfield by signing Eric Esso of Ghana from Hearts of Oak in the Ghana Premier League.
Esso, who played eight games in 2023, is set to add more options in the midfield as Filipino-English defensive midfielder Mark Swainston, who is now in Hong Kong playing for Eastern SC.
“We’re thrilled to introduce our newest addition from Ghana, bringing a stellar blend of power and poise to bolster our midfield!” Kaya announced on social media.
