Reymart Gaballo engages in a stay-busy fight while waiting for his world title shot when he battles Phai Pharob of Thailand today at the Midas Hotel and Casino.
Already assured of a title crack at the World Boxing Organization belt, Gaballo stepped on the scales at 117.2.
Pharob also came in at 117.2 during the official weighin held Monday.
Handled by JC Mananquil’s Sanman Promotions and trained by Nonito Donaire Sr., Gaballo is rated No. 1 by the WBO and No. 5 by the International Boxing Federation.
The WBO champion is Jason Moloney of Australia while the IBF titleholder if Emmanbuel Rodriguez of Puerto Rico.
Gaballo enters the ring with a 26-1 record with 21 knockouts while Pharob parades a 35-3 with 27 knockouts.
Gaballo’s lone loss was a fourth-round stoppage to Nonito Donaire in December 2011 in a bid to wrest the WBC 118-lb strap in Carson, California.
Providing solid support to the slugfest is MP Promotions, the outfit owned by Manny Pacquiao and run by Sean Gibbons.
