Magnolia refuses to wave the white flag after a 108-98 Game 5 loss to San Miguel Beer in the Philippine Basketball Association Commissioner’s Cup finals last Sunday at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
Hotshots import Tyler Bey, who scored 34 points, said he remains confident that he and the team can turn things around.
Now holding a 3-2 lead in the best-of-seven championship series, the Beermen can close the series Wednesday when they face again in Game 6 at 7:30 p.m. also at the Big Dome.
“No pressure. We have to come out, do what we did the last two games before this game,” Bey said.
“We’re a great team. I don’t feel like our backs are against the wall. Obviously, we’re down. They got one more to go but I believe in this team.”
Bey has every reason to believe Magnolia can force a winner-take-all Game 7 against San Miguel.
The Beermen looked poised to sweep the series after winning the first two games before the Hotshots clinched the next two games.
Bey, a former Dallas Mavericks player, believes the team will be able to pull off the much-needed victory needed to force a Game 7 on Friday.
From there, all bets are off.
“I feel good about this conference. I mean we came back from 0-2, we can do it again and win two more games. Why not?” Bey said.
The Hotshots need to win two more games to clinch their 15th PBA championship in franchise history.
