It didn’t take long for Baser Amer to find a new home as he signed a contract with NLEX in the Philippine Basketball Association.
The Road Warriors made the announcement, saying that Amer is expected to boost their backcourt that is missing the presence of injured stars Kevin Alas and Matt Nieto.
Amer signed the contract on Monday night during NLEX four-day training camp at the Inspire Sports Academy in Laguna. Details of the contract, however, were not divulged.
Present during the signing were NLEX president Jose Luigi Bautista, NLEX governor Ronald Dulatre, NLEX team manager Larry Fonacier, and head coach Frankie Lim, who is thrilled to reunite with his former player at San Beda University.
Amer will be the latest former Red Lion to join NLEX since it landed Clint Doliguez, Dave Marcelo, Jake Pascual, and Anthony Semerad as well as assistant coach Borgie Hermida, Melo Lim and JB Sison.
Robert Bolick is also at the Road Warriors camp after arriving from a three-team trade involving NorthPort and San Miguel Beer last December.
“I’m happy that I will be reunited with Coach Frankie and other former San Beda players here at NLEX. I will do my best to help the team win the championship,” Amer, a nine-year veteran, said.
Amer and the Road Warriors go a long way.
In fact, Amer campaigned for them in the PBA D-League, where he played a key role in the Road Warriors three championship runs.
Amer will start suiting up for the Road Warriors in the Philippine Cup that will open on 28 February.
