Iloilo posted back-to-back wins to ramp up its playoff drive in the Philippine National Volleyball Federation Champions League Monday night.
In a bid to make up for its early exit in the previous edition of the spikefest, the D’ Navigators walloped Philippine Air Force, 25-18, 25-21, 25-23 in less than 90 minutes to gain solo lead in Pool B with a 2-0 win-loss card.
The win came after the squad’s 25-20, 25-23, 25-20 demolition of VNS Asereht in the opener.
“We’re just glad we are up 2-0 and we worked hard for this,” said Iloilo coach Rizalito Delmoro, whose team is composed of Iloilo-born spikers and a blend of former national team mainstays and current collegiate standouts.
“If we keep on doing this, we are going to the finals.”
Iloilo had to exit last year’s event after bowing to powerhouse Cignal in the quarterfinal round.
The tournament is made up of eight teams.
