A strong blend of young and veteran talents make up the rosters of the squads vying for top honors in the AIA 7’s Football League that gets off the wraps on 10 March at the McKinley Hill Stadium in Taguig.
League founder and former Azkals defender Anton del Rosario said yesterday that having the faster seven-a-side football would greatly help aspiring footballers improve and represent their cities.
“For us, we believe there needs to be an outlet for these players to feel like they could live the dream. This is where the Super League comes into play because the Super League’s goal is to represent their cities and be professionals,” Del Rosario said as he wants the tournament to complement the traditional 11-a-side style of football.
“If they can feel that, we could have a better future in football,” he added.
Alabang South Supers, BGC Soldiers, Pampanga Strikers, Parañaque Super NetsQuezon City Heroes, Siniloan GOM Blues and Pasig City Pirates are the teams taking part.
