Alex Eala made an immediate impact after winning her matches at the W75 Porto tournament in Portugal early Thursday (Manila time).
Eala, 18, defeated Raluca Georgiana Serban, 6-4, 6-2, in the Round of 32 in the women’s singles.
Then, she teamed up with United Kingdom’s Ali Collins to take down Anca Alexia Todoni of Romania and Vasanti Shinde of India, 7-6, 4-6, 11-9, in the Last 16 of the women’s doubles.
This is Eala’s first tournament since joining the Mubadala Abu Dhabi Open in the United Arab Emirates this month.
