Tots Carlos exploded with career-high 31 points, propelling Creamline to its second win after keeping Akari in check, 22-25, 25-21, 22-25, 19-25, in the Premier Volleyball League All-Filipino Conference on Thursday at the Philsports Arena in Pasig City.
The Cool Smashers stayed on their toes in the third and fourth frames after the Chargers took over the second set by making the most out of their service errors.
“What’s important is we’re ready for all situations whatever happens on the court. The game was tight [but] we were ready,” Creamline head coach Sherwin Meneses said.
Jema Galanza added 15 points while team captain Alyssa Valdez chipped in 8 points, including 2 aces, as the Cool Smashers remained perfect with its 17th straight win since dominating last conference with a sweep.
The Cool Smashers’ win also marked the debut of Bea De Leon, who finished with 5 points, and Denden Lazaro-Revilla, who dished out 11 excellent receptions.
“I’m happy because the competition within the team keeps on improving, so the practice sessions and the games become really good,” Carlos said when asked about her new teammates.
“Hopefully, there’s more opportunities for them to play in the game. It’s a step-by-step [process],” Meneses said.
Meanwhile, Fifi Sharma and Dindin Santiago-Manabat’s respective 14 and 13-point performances are not enough to notch Akari’s first win of the season.
