For Tots Carlos, it’s all about having the right mindset.
That’s what she has to say after exploding with a career-high 31 points during Creamline’s 22-25, 25-21, 22-25, 19-25, win against Akari in the Premier Volleyball League All-Filipino Conference on Thursday at the Philsports Arena in Pasig City.
The three-time PVL Most Valuable Player also scored the last two points in the game — the cherry on top of her monster performance — sealing Creamline’s 17th straight win, which started from the previous season.
“As coach (Sherwin Meneses) always says, it’s one game after the other because the season is so long and there’s so many teams,” Carlos said.
“Every time that the job is done, the game is done, our mindset is on to the next game. The situation isn’t always the same, so we remain ready.”
Carlos, whose previous professional record was 28 points with the Cool Smashers against Petro Gazz in the 2022 Premier Volleyball League Open Conference, gave props to the team and fans for the achievement.
“I always say that if not for the trust given by my teammates, coaches, and management, we wouldn’t be able to excel like this,” Carlos said.
“So, I’m thankful for the support, especially for the fans — for all the support they’ve given to us.”
Despite her feat, the reigning Finals MVP remains selfless.
“The games don’t always have the same situation, so we’re always ready. Who gets to score and who doesn’t is not the case with us. It’s helping each other,” Carlos said.
“An individual player only scores because of the help of our other teammates.”
