Filipino-American skater Sofia Frank failed to qualify for her final ISU Junior World Figure Skating Championships last Wednesday at the Taipei Arena in Taiwan.
Out of 46 skaters, Frank finished 45th after getting 32.83 points in the short program category and missed out on joining the free skate category.
Only the top 24 figure skaters in the short program were able to advance.
Polina Dzsumanyijazova of Hungary made it after scoring 53.35 points in the short program to get the 24th spot.
This is Frank’s, one of the Philippine Skating Union’s top bets aiming to qualify for the 2026 Winter Olympics in Italy, final performance in the tournament as only those in the age range of 13 to 18 years old are allowed to compete.
Her best performance in this competition was in 2022 where she finished 22nd out of 43 figure skaters.
This year also saw Frank compete in the ISU Four Continents Championships in Shanghai, China from 30 January to 4 February where she finished 19th out of 26 figure skaters.
With Frank’s season done, she will be training hard with the 2025 Asian Winter Games in China one of the goals for next year.
