League-leading University of Perpetual Help System Dalta and defending champion Letran College take a shot at entering the best-of-three championship series as the Final Four of Season 99 National Collegiate Athletic Association juniors basketball tournament starts Sunday at the Filoil EcoOil Centre in San Juan.
The Junior Altas, who entered their first Final Four after 14 years, are set to face Mapua University at noon banking on their a twice-to-beat advantage to bag the school’s first crown.
Season 99 Most Valuable Player frontrunner Amiel Acido is expected to lead Perpetual in this game after dropping a double-double performance of 23 points and 20 rebounds against San Sebastian College last week to cap their elimination round record with an 8-1 win-loss record.
At 2:30 p.m., the Squires will clash with the Staglets to cap off today’s double-header spectacle.
San Sebastian hopes to force a do-or-die match and avenge their 78-66 loss to Letran last 18 February.
However, that will be easier said than done as Squires main man George Diamante is expected to be a problem for the Staglets after he had a double-double performance of 20 points and 12 rebounds in Letran’s 100-63 victory over La Salle Green Hills last Sunday.
Should any of these matches end in sudden-death, it will be held on Wednesday at the same San Juan venue.
