Businessman Arbie Jacinto went away with the Men’s II division title in the guests’ side event of the BMW Golf Cup World Finals over the weekend at the Fancourt Golf Resort in South Africa.
Jacinto is the chief executive officer of Top Entertainment Service Advertising Agency Inc., and vice president for marketing and external communications of Grundstein Construction and Development Corporation.
He competed against 32 other delegates from different countries.
Jacinto took part in the special event accompanying his wife Charmaine who joined Eddie Alegre and Chabs Laurena in forming the Philippine delegation to the event.
They were aiming to become the second Filipino contingent to win in the World Finals following the country’s victory in 2002 in Mexico.
Turned out the honor will be taken home by Jacinto, who just last month won the 26th Sta. Elena Cup partnering with actor Aga Muhlach.
In South Africa, Jacinto got to rub elbows with golf great Gary Player who is the national icon in the country.
Player used to visit the Philippines and played with the late former president Ferdinand Marcos. He has designed several courses here.
Aside from Player, the awards night — inspired by the traditional Shebeen — was also graced by Fanny Sunesson, who is considered one of the greatest caddies of all time.
