The Philippine obstacle race team is gearing up for the 2024 OCR World Championships in Costa Rica from 22 to 25 August.
Marites Nocyao, a gold medalist in the 32nd Southeast Asian Games last year, said on the sidelines of the Women’s Run PH event last Sunday that they started training last February as they aim for a podium finish against the best obstacle racers from around the world.
“There has been an improvement since we started training a month ago. We always have a target every month like how fast can we finish a one-kilometer run,” Nocyao said.
“We would train twice a day. Mornings are for running while the afternoon is for the obstacle course.”
The Philippines is set to send a 20-man delegation that includes SEA Games gold medalists Mark Julius Rodelas and Precious Satarain.
Events featured in the OCR World Championships are international standard OCR 100 m, Short Course stadium race, mixed team race, Standard Course and Open event.
