The country’s top and seasoned players, including members of the national team, and rising stars from the various clubs and schools will see action in the SMART/MVPSF National CPJ (Carlos Palanca Jr.) Taekwondo Championships from 23 to 24 March at the Ayala Malls Manila Bay in Pasay City.
The Philippine Taekwondo Association said the two-day tournament has already attracted 1,500 participants who will compete in two events — Kyorugi (free sparring) and Poomsae (form).
Sponsored by the Philippine Sports Commission, Philippine Olympic Committee and Milo, the annual event will also serve as tune-up for the national
team members were tasked to see action in the Asian Taekwondo Championships, Chuncheon Korea Open Championships, World Junior Championships and Asian Indoor Martial Arts Games and World Poomsae Championships.
The Kyorugi event will be classified into Senior, Junior, Cadet, Grade School and Toddler for both male and female fighters.
Poomsae will have two events — the Recognized (Individual, Team and Mixed pair) and Freestyle (Individual and Mixed pair) also for both male and female participants.
Sports enthusiasts interested to take up the traditional Korean martial arts are invited to witness the tournament that will start at 9 a.m.
