All-Star Game-bound Juami Tiongson hopes Terrafirma’s huge win over Blackwater will fuel their playoffs push in the Philippine Basketball Association Philippine Cup.
Perched at the middle of the standings with a 3-2 win-loss record tied with the Bossing, the Dyip have built a good foundation in their campaign before the league goes on a two-week break.
“If not for the break we could’ve built on our momentum, but it is what it is. We just have to stay locked in,” the Terrafirma guard said.
Tiongson, who is making his first-ever All-Star Game appearance as part of Team Mark on Sunday in Bacolod City, drilled the game-winning three-pointer in the Dyip’s 92-91 escape over Blackwater last Saturday at the Rizal Memorial Coliseum to end their two-game slide.
Terrafirma will take a rest and will return to action on 3 April against Meralco.
But there will be no slacking off for the Dyip during the break.
“We can’t afford to relax and hopefully, we players, coming into this two-week break will keep working hard because we really have a chance of making it to the playoffs,” the 2021 Most Improved Player said.
Tiongson, however, will remain busy until the weekend.
Along with other PBA stars voted by fans for the mid-season showcase, Tiongson will head to the City of Smiles for various fun activities culminating in the main showpiece between Team Barroca and Team Aguilar at the University of Saint La Salle gymnasium.
“I’m very thankful for this opportunity given to me,” Tiongson, who was among the Top 29 vote-getters for the All-Star Game, said.
Tiongson will be joined by team captain Mark Barroca along with June Mar Fajardo, Jason Perkins, CJ Perez, Robert Bolick, Jio Jalalon, Ian Sangalang, James Yap, Calvin Abueva, Jayson Castro, Gabe Norwood, Ricci Rivero, Cliff Hodge, Juami Tiongson and Nards Pinto.
San Miguel Beer coach Jorge Gallent will call the shots for Team Mark.
