South Korea will test the mettle of the national women’s football team when they clash in a pair of friendly matches next month at the Incheon Sports Complex.
According to the Korean Football Association (KFA), the Koreans and the Filipinos will tangle on 5 and 8 April in a virtual rematch of their elimination-round encounter in the previous 19th Asian Games.
The Koreans prevailed, 5-1, giving the Filipinas all the reason to go all out and display the toughness that sent them to the FIFA Women’s World Cup for the first time last year.
Colin Bell of Great Britain manages the 20th-ranked Koreans while Mark Torcaso of Australia handles the 39th-ranked Filipinas.
“We are revealing the roster of Colin Belho, who will participate in the Shinsegae E-Mart invited women’s national soccer team’s two-game friendly match against the Philippines!” the KFA posted.
“Shinsegae E-Mart invited women’s national soccer team friendly match Philippines Game 1 04.05 (Friday) / Game 2 04.08 (Monday).”
Expected to play for South Korea are Son Hwa-yeon of the Incheon Hyundai Steel Red Angels, Moon Mi-ra of Suwon FC and Ji So-yun of Seattle Reign FC, who all played in the recent Asian Games.
The last time the Philippines participated in an international match was last February at the 2024 Pinatar Cup in Murcia, Spain where it played against Scotland and Finland.
The Filipinas, however, have yet to announce their squad at press time.
