The Goldfield Giants are excited to have Gilas Pilipinas Women guard Jhazmin Joson for their campaign in the National Basketball League 1.
Giants head coach Jaymi Worthington said Joson’s decision-making skills will be a great addition to the squad following her stellar performance in the 2024 FIBA 3×3 Women’s Asia Cup in Singapore last week that ended with a 9-19 loss to Chinese Taipei in the quarterfinals.
Joson’s management company, Titan Management Group, made the announcement late Monday, saying that she will be following Jack Animam, who signed with the Ringwood Hawks.
“Jhazmin is a versatile shooting guard who has a quick shot release and high basketball IQ. Coming off her Asia Cup 3×3 tournament playing for the Philippines, Jhazmin’s value is in creating for her teammates as well as being lethal from beyond the arc,” Worthington said.
“We are looking forward to welcoming Jhaz to the Goldfields and having her part of our squad.”
Joson averaged 6.0 points in three games in the 3×3 Women’s Asia Cup.
The 24-year-old guard also averaged 10.57 points, 5.0 rebounds, and 5.71 assists per game last year in the University Athletic Association of the Philippines Season 86 women’s basketball tournament as she led Ateneo de Manila University to the Final Four in her final year in 2023.
The Titan Management Group wishes Joson the best of luck as she starts her campaign on Saturday against Lakeside Lightning at the Lakeside Recreation Centre in North Lake, Australia.
