Eumir Marcial will hold the most crucial stage of his Paris Olympics buildup in the United States.
Since he has already earned a spot, the Filipino lefty will spend the final 12 weeks in Las Vegas under the guidance of Kay Koroma, who operates a gym in Sin City that hosted the fighter’s most recent training camp.
Originally, Marcial thought about joining the Philippine national team in Thailand to get ready for the final Olympic qualifying tournament Bangkok is hosting in late-May until early-June.
But instead of the Thai camp, Marcial will just spend some time with national team members when they train and take part in a pocket tournament in Colorado Springs this month.
About two weeks ago, Marcial stopped Thoedsak Sinam of Thailand in four rounds at the Ninoy Aquino Stadium.
Winning the bronze in the middleweight class in Tokyo in 2021, Marcial will compete in the light-heavyweight class in Paris after the middleweight category was scrapped.
