One Taguig FC debuted in the Philippines Football League (PFL) with a bang after a 4-1 win over Montet Manila FC at the Rizal Memorial Football Stadium last Sunday.
After a scoreless first half, Tsukasa Shimamura scored the club’s first PFL goal in the 51st minute before Arnel Amita made it 2-0 four minutes later.
Patrick Grogg made it 3-0 in the 76th minute and making an insurmountable lead.
Henry Piñero opened Manila Montet’s PFL account in the 84th minute with a goal of his own.
But it wasn’t enough as Naoto Hirashi sealed the deal after scoring in the 88th minute.
One Taguig head coach Jovanie Villagracia said their adjustments in the second half paid off.
“We overloaded the flanks so that we are superior in numbers. We we’re able to get an early goal in the second half,” Villagracia said.
One Taguig joins the likes of Mendiola FC 1991, Stallion Laguna FC, Tuloy FC, Cebu FC Manila Digger FC, Maharlika Taguig FC with similar 1-0-0 win-draw-loss records.
Earlier, defending champion Kaya FC-Iloilo chalked up its first win of the season with a 2-0 victory over United City FC.
Eric Esso scored with a screamer in the 4th minute before Jesus Melliza’s 81st minute attempt barely crossed the line to make it 2-0.
