AP Bren revealed its formula to success heading into the fourth week of Mobile Legends Professional League PH Season 13.
AP Bren, a two-time MPL PH champion and the only two-time M-Series world champion in Mobile Legends history, puts a lot of emphasis on mental health.
While the rest of the world tends to think that all they do is play, the team’s head coach Francis “Ducky” Glindro believes that too much playtime is counterproductive.
“For amateurs and players who are outsiders looking in, watching, thinking, we play 16 to 24 hours. It suddenly shifts when you enter the pro scene, cannot stay up late,” Ducky cited.
“It has to be limited to eight to 10 hours and then you rest. It is not a good mindset to play for 16 hours. That is crazy, I think. It is a matter of scheduling from my perspective as head coach.”
Ducky said it also helps to keep away from the game.
“As much as possible I give vacant days to the (players) so they can actually feel life outside of Mobile Legends. We encourage them not to touch the game, I tell them not to play,” Ducky said.
“I have a good feeling when they are stressed out, it shows physically. We built a culture where we engage in physical activities. We give heavy emphasis on physical health.”
Consistently competing in all sorts of tournaments since 2023, it would only be fair to think that AP Bren players may be burnt out by now.
However, that is not the case as per team captain Angelo Kyle “Pheww” Arcangel.
“I feel like we have good mental health and we are not exhausted. We are happy with what we do and we have a healthy environment,” Pheww stated.
“Even though there are plenty of tournaments, win or lose we are just happy together. We cannot say that we get mentally tired. I do not play Mobile Legends during day offs.”
