3 birdies power Ng rally

Reese Ng rallied with three birdies in the last seven holes to salvage a two-over-par 74 at the start of the Asia Pacific Junior Amateur Championship at the Orchard Golf and Country Club in Dasmariñas, Cavite on Tuesday.

Ng opened with three straight bogeys at the Palmer course and added two more bogeys at the start of her homeward trip but knocked in birdies on 12, 14 and 18.

Ng sits in a tie for eighth spot, six shots behind Thai Prim Prachnakorn who collected five birdies against a single bogey.

Also returning with 74s were Sophie Han of Vietnam, Nishna Patel of India, Lin Jie-En of Chinese-Taipei.

Gabie Rosca, on the other hand, opened with a 77 behind one birdie against six bogeys.

She started with a bogey but reached the turn on even par after a birdie on 9. However, she faded at the back with bogeys on 10, 13, 15, 16 and 18.

Rosca shares 14th spot with Singapore’s Chen Xingtong.

Four shots behind the leader was Korean Sep Kyorim who shot a 72 built around four birdies against four bogeys.

Tied for third with identical 73s were Avani Prashanth of India, Arianna Lau of Vietnam, Sania Talitha Wahyudi of Indonesia, Annika Chen of Chinese-Taipei and Kim Minsol of South Korea.

Results in the boys’ division were not complete.

Hsu Po-Cheng of Chinese-Taipei was on top of the leaderboard on 5-under after nine holes.

Korean Moon Dong Hyun was 3-under through 12 holes while four players were on 1-under.

Filipino bets Shinichi Suzuki and Edison and Tabalin have yet to complete their rounds.

Suzuki was 2-over while Tabalin was 3-over through 12 holes.
