PHNOM PENH, Cambodia — The Philippine men’s football team gets the opportunity to score a huge win in the 32nd Southeast Asian Games.
The Azkals battle lowly Timor Leste Thursday at 7 p.m. (8 p.m. in Manila) at the Olympic Stadium.
In their SEA Games debut on 29 April, the Azkals fell to Indonesia, 3-0 and in their second match, they fought host Cambodia to a 1-1 draw.
Cambodia could have ran away with a win but Dov Cariño struck with a header in the dying minutes for the standoff on Tuesday.
The draw allowed the Philippines to keep its semifinal hopes alive.
Currently, the Azkals are sitting in fourth place behind a 0-1-1 win-draw-loss record in Group A with Timor Leste dead-last in the five-team group after losing its first two matches.
The Philippines will have to win its remaining three games to strengthen its chances of making it into the semifinal round.
