PHNOM PENH, Cambodia – Myanmar pulled off a stunner over the Philippine national women’s football team after 1-0 win at the 32nd Southeast Asian Games at the Army Stadium Wednesday evening here.
Win Theingi Tun converted a penalty for Burmese in the 89th minute and milked the clock to hang on to the win.
This was payback for Myanmar after losing the bronze medal to the Filipinas last year in the Hanoi SEA Games.
With the loss, the Filipinas are currently at third place in Group A as they will try to bounce back on 6 May against Malaysia.
The Philippines has to win its remaining two games, including against defending champion Vietnam, to advance to the knockout stages.
