PHNOM PENH, Cambodia – Agatha Wong picked up her fifth Southeast Asian Games gold after dominating the women’s tajiquan+taijijian event at the Chroy Changvar Convention Center Hall A on Friday here.
Wong scored a total of 19.263 points to win the event and elevate the country’s gold medal tally to 28 as of noontime Friday.
Wong, 24, said her third place standing in the tajiquan helped her medal chances greatly in the 32nd SEA Games.
“When I left the Philippines, everybody was expecting for me to win when I couldn’t even expect myself to win. It’s hard to manage that mentally,” said Wong, who is currently taking up medicine at the University of the East Ramon Magsaysay Memorial Medical Center in Quezon City.
“I was really happy I was able to get third place (in tajiquan).”
