Alex Eala rolled past Germany’s Anja Wildgruber, 6-1, 6-1, to open her W25 Monastir women’s singles campaign on a high note at the Hotel Skanes Family Monastir in Turkey.
Rated world No. 262, Eala needed just 55 minutes to send the German world No. 1091 packing to make the second round.
A scholar of the Rafael Nadal Academy in Mallorca, Eala is seeking her third pro crown after failing to make the grade for the French Open set to kick off late this week.
Up next for the 18-year-old Eala is Nadine Keller of Switzerland, who also advanced after tripping Russian Victoria Mikhaylova, 6-3, 6-3.
So far, Eala’s two pro victories came during the W15 Manacor in Spain and the W25 in Chiang Rai, Thailand.
