Jarvey Gayoso poked in the winning goal early in the second half in the Philippine Azkals’ 1-0 win over visiting Nepal in their friendly match Thursday evening at the Rizal Memorial Sports Complex.

The Kaya F.C.-Iloilo star found the back of the net in the 50th minute with a well-placed close-ranged shot during a mad scramble near the goal following a corner kick from Manny Ott.

It was enough for the host team to deliver its first win under head coach Hans Michael Weiss, who returned to call the shots for the Azkals after nine years.

Stephan Schrock, who retired last January, was subbed in at the 72nd minute.

The Azkals battle Chinese Taipei on Monday, 19 June, at the same venue.
