Carlos Yulo successfully retained his men’s floor exercise title yesterday in the 10th Senior Artistic Gymnastics Asian Championships at the OCBC Center in Singapore.
Yulo, who settled for a silver medal in the men’s all-around last Thursday, dazzled the crowd and scored 15.300 points.
Dmitriy Patanin of Kazakhstan came in second with 14.366 points while China’s Su Weide checked in third with 14.333 points.
Southeast Asian Games gold medalist John Ivan Cruz placed dead-last in the eight-man field after scoring 11.433 points in his debut appearance in the floor exercise final.
Yulo, who will be representing the Philippines in the 52nd FIG Artistic Gymnastics World Championships in Antwerp, Belgium this September, is poised to take home six medals.
At press time, he is competing in the men’s rings as well as Aleah Finnegan, who is looking to make it into the podium of the women’s vault final.
Today, Yulo will play in the final of the men’s vault, horizontal bar and parallel bars while Finnegan will play in the floor exercise with Emma Malabuyo as well as the balance beam.
