Kai Sotto’s took a step closer to his National Basketball Association dream after getting an invite to play for the Orlando Magic in the NBA Summer League.
Multiple reports have it that the 7-foot-2 slotman will see action for the Magic in the annual preseason spectacle as he bids to become the first full-blooded Filipino to land a roster spot in the NBA.
Prior to getting invited by the Magic, Sotto worked out with the Utah Jazz, the Dallas Mavericks and the New York Knicks.
In Orlando, Sotto will have a chance to play with Anthony Black and Jett Howard, who were taken by the Magic with the sixth and 11th selection in the NBA Draft last Friday, as well as veterans Markelle Fultz, Wendell Carter, Goga Bitadze and Moritz Wagner and Bol Bol.
He will also have a chance to test his mettle against 7-foot-4 Victor Wembanyama, who was taken with the top overall pick by the San Antonio Spurs. The gentle giant from France announce that he will play in the Summer League.
Sotto will be the second Filipino basketball player to get a Summer League invite after Ray Parks played for the Mavericks in 2015.
