Gilas Women’s team suffers 71-point blowout against Australia

The Gilas Women’s basketball team suffered an embarrassing 34-105 loss to host Australia in the FIBA Women’s Asia Cup at the State Sports Centre in Sydney Monday evening.

The Australians imposed their height, going 26-of-44 in their two-point shots against the Filipinos.

Darcy Garbin led Australia with 18 points and eight rebounds as they picked up their first win in the tournament.

Vanessa de Jesus made her Gilas debut with 18 points for the Philippines.

Up next for the Philippines is Japan on Tuesday, 27 June, at 5:30 p.m. (Manila time) at the same venue.
