John Cabang and Ronnie Malipay booked slots in the final of their respective events on the second day of the Asian Athletic Championships in Pattaya, Thailand last Thursday.

Clinton Bautista failed to make it into the final after clocking in 13.99 seconds in the 110m hurdles.

Malipay, a Southeast Asian Games silver medalist, will also vie for a podium finish in the triple jump later at 5:30 p.m. (Manila time).

Malipay is vying for a medal as of press time while Cabang will be competing in the final on Friday.

Also competing as of press time is Kristina Knot, who will be racing in the women’s 100m event.

These athletes will try to get to the podium for the Philippines after a lackluster start last Monday.

Maureen Schrijvers failed to make it into the final of the women’s 400m event after getting disqualified via a lane infringement.

Gennah Malapit finished 13th overall in the javelin throw event after going as far as 43.57 meters.

Arlan Arbois came in at 14th place in the men’s 10000m event while Sonny Wagdos did not finish the race.

Six-time SEA Games gold medalist Eric Cray is slated to see action in the men’s 400m hurdles at 10 a.m. (Manila time) with long jumper Janry Ubas vying at 10:30 a.m.

William Morrison III will also strut his stuff on Friday in the men’s shot put while Joida Gagnao will be going for a medal in the women’s 3000m steeplechase.

The Philippines is looking to improve its one gold and one bronze medal tally from the Doha edition in 2019.
