Sarah Dequinan reset the Philippine record in the women’s heptathlon at the Asian Athletic Championships in Pattaya, Thailand Saturday.

Dequinan amassed a total of 5446 points, despite finishing in fifth place, eclipsing the previous record of 5381 points she got in the 31st Southeast Asian Games in Vietnam last year.

Meanwhile, the quartet of Frederick Ramirez, Maureen Schrijvers, Umajesty Williams, and Carlo del Prado set a new national record in the mixed 4×400-meter relay by clocking in three minutes and 22.53 seconds at seventh place.

The previous mixed 4x400m relay was set at the 32nd SEA Games last May when Williams, Ramirez, Del Prado, and Robyn Brown, who earlier won the women’s 400m hurdles gold medal, clocked in 3:23.69 minutes.

The Philippines is poised to surpass the one gold and one bronze tally from the 2019 edition in Doha as pole vaulter EJ Obiena on Sunday, 16 July, at 5 p.m. (Manila time).

Sonny Wagdos will also compete in the final of the men’s 5000m final with Kristina Knott competing in the women’s 200m final.

Williams, Ramirez, Del Prado, and Sequita will also try to get a medal as they compete in the men’s 4x400m relay.
