Chery Tiggo top recruit Eya Laure vows to better her performance in the next tournament of the Premier Volleyball League following the Crossovers’ early exit in the Invitational Conference.

The sought-after winger admitted that an ankle injury she sustained right in her second professional game kept her from showing the same explosiveness she had while playing for University of Santo Tomas in the University Athletic Association of the Philippines.

“I know I still have a lot to improve on and to show. It’s unfortunate that I got injured in our (elimination round) game against Akari,” Laure said after Chery Tiggo dropped a sorry 20-25, 24-26, 15-25, loss to Choco Mucho in the classification round for 7th place yesterday at the Philsports Arena in San Juan.

Laure added that she had to play through the pain for the rest of their campaign.

“I didn’t get to perform against Gerflor. Then after that I had to play through pain but with the help of our strength and conditioning coaches, I know coach Aaron will give me the opportunity to see action,” Laure said.

Despite the nagging pain in her left ankle, Laure managed to deliver decent numbers as she averaged 11 points per game during the elimination round where Chery Tiggo finished with a 2-2 win-loss slate.

The Crossovers bombed out in the semis race and were relegated to the classification round.

Against the Flying Titans, Chery Tiggo had no answer to former UST standouts Sisi Rondina and Caitlyn Viray.

Laure tallied 11 points and added 14 excellent receptions in a losing cause as the Crossovers finished in eighth place.

“I had a lot of realizations and I have a lot to improve on as a player,” Laure said.

“As a team, we already saw what we were lacking. Our coaches reminded us that we need to go back to training and work to better our game for the next conference.”
