Caloocan trounced Quezon City, 81-49, to gain ground in the OKBet-MPBL Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League Fifth Season late Thursday at the Bren Guiao Convention Center in San Fernando, Pampanga.

Flaunting a balanced attack and dominating the boards, the Batang Kankaloo notched their 17th win against seven losses in the round-robin elimination phase of the 29-team tournament.

Paul Sanga led Batang Kankaloo with 14 points, followed by Jeramer Cabanag with 12, Reil Cervantes with 10, Gabby Espinas with nine and Joco Tayongtong with eight.

Anton Bonsubre snagged 14 of Caloocan’s 62 rebounds against just 38 for Quezon City, which tumbled to 3-22 despite the 16-point, seven-rebound output of Andre Flores.

Earlier, the Oriental Mindoro Disiplinados subdued the Bulacan Kuyas, 86-73, to improve to 4-19.

Agem Miranda poured 13 of his game-high 22 points in the fourth quarter, nearly matching the 14-point total output of the Kuyas in that span.
