Respawn Entertainment developers finally gave Revenant its long overdue rework in the latest update of the popular team-based battle royale Apex Legends in its Resurrection Patch this past week.
Revenant, a widely ignored assault class legend in the past, has been converted to skirmisher by Respawn Entertainment along with a new set of skills that placed him in the ranked game meta and quite possibly in competitive play as well.
“For almost 300 years, Revenant was under the Syndicate’s thumb with the help of Hammond, and all he wanted was to escape. Now, suddenly, he starts to glitch, someone has launched a new protocol,” Apex Legends said in its patch notes.
“He finds that he’s able to see enemies low on health, unleash a powerful leap forward, and forge a shroud of shadows around him that blocks incoming damage. But he also knows how to hold a grudge.”
“He’s unlocked all season long, and you can complete challenges throughout the season to unlock him permanently. With great new abilities, comes a new class — Revenant is now a skirmisher.”
His passive Assassin’s Instinct still enjoys a fast crouch walk and improved wall climbing, but this time, this ability also highlights nearby visible enemies who are low on health making him the perfect character in getting a kill.
His tactical assault, meanwhile, was quickly revamped. From having a grenade-like silence ability, Respawn Entertainment changed his tactical assault to Shadow Pounce which allows him to unleash a powerful pounce forward that can be charged to further its distance.
But the biggest and most impactful change in Revenant is with his ultimate. From having a totem that allows a character to fight without a shield before resurrecting with just half the health points, Respawn Entertainment totally changed the skill to a game-changer.
Forged Shadows, his new ultimate, forges a shroud of hardened shadows around Revenant that blocks damage and regenerates after breaking. Furthermore, the shadows and Shadow Pounce are reset on knockdowns making Revenant a killing machine.
As anticipated, the massive changes brought upon Revenant quickly made him a popular pick among casual gamers and streamers alike with teammates fighting over who among the party of three is going to play the revamped character.
