Well-rested College of Saint Benilde guns for its second straight win against struggling San Sebastian College in the V-League Women’s Collegiate Challenge today at the Paco Arena in Manila.

The Lady Blazers are coming into the 10 a.m. curtain-raiser fresh from an eight-day break following their straight sets opening day victory over Lyceum of the Philippines University.

The reigning back-to-back National Collegiate Athletic Association champions are heavily favored to pick their second win to move within striking distance behind league-leading squads Far Eastern University and University of the East, which are unbeaten in three starts.

Despite having an intact veteran core, Saint Benilde head coach Jerry Yee reminds his wards not to take the winless Lady Stags lightly. He wants to see the Lady Blazers address their service reception which he felt was a bit shaky against the Lady Pirates.

“We still want to work on our receive, our first ball. It worked partly (against LPU), we’re able to receive their loaded services and at least we’re able to address that but it doesn’t stop there,” he said.

San Sebastian drops all of its three starts.

In the other pairing, University of Perpetual Help System DALTA seeks to get back in the win column in a showdown against Lyceum at 12 p.m.

The Lady Altas carry a 1-1 slate while the Lady Pirates have yet to win a match after two tries.

Meanwhile in men’s play, unbeaten Ateneo de Manila University shoots for its third straight win and a tighter grip on the solo top spot against FEU (1-1) at 2 p.m.

Battling at 4 p.m. are De La Salle University (1-1) and San Beda University (0-2).
