EJ Obiena takes second place after leaping over 5.82 meters in the Eugene Diamond League Final at Hayward Field in Eugene, Oregon on Monday.
It took two tries for Obiena, 27, to get over the height as he took home $12,000 or P682,440.
World champion Armand Duplantis of Sweden broke the world record after going over 6.23 m and winning the tournament.
Hometown bet Sam Kendricks got third place over Kurtis Marschall of Australia and teammate Chris Nilsen via countback despite all three pole vaulters tallying 5.72 meters.
Obiena will now focus on the upcoming 19th Asian Games in Hangzhou, China, which begins on 29 September.
