Omega Esports scored its third win in MPL Season 12 following a 2-1 victory over the number two team of the regular season AP Bren on Week 3 Day 1 of the tournament this Friday evening at Shooting Gallery Studio in Makati.
After losing the opening game to the 2023 IESF world champion, Omega Esports came back hard in Games 2 and 3 which saw Ch4knu use Angela in competitive play for the first time in more than a year. According to the popular roamer, healers are a good fit in the current meta.
“I think the latest patch favors us. [I last played Angela] in the Season 9 Playoffs [but] she can be boring, [her role] is to clear. With the meta right now, healers are good [to play],” Ch4knu said after the match.
Earlier in the day, defending champion and M4 world champion ECHO extended its unbeaten streak to 6-0. Just like Omega Esports, ECHO fell short in the opening game but was able to quickly adjust and win the series.
“We were surprised in Game 1 because they always got ahead of us, but that is okay at least we won the series. We just had to think about what made the game hard for us and what was lacking. We were able to talk about it backstage and move on,” said ECHO’s mid laner Sanford.
