Justin Quiban sizzled with an eagle-aided 69 Friday to grab a share of the lead going into the third round of the Yeangder TPC in Chinese Taipei.
Quiban, who is hoping his victory on local shores extends overseas, followed up on his sensational 66 in Thursday’s opener for a 10-under total of 134.
He eagled the par-5, 535-yard No. 4 of the Linkou International Golf and Country Club to give a chase for the $750,000 tournament in the Asian Tour.
That more than made up for his double-bogey on the 16th — the only blotch on his scorecard. He also birdied Hole Nos. 3, 10, 14 and 18.
Quiban bagged the top plum in last week’s South Pacific Classic in Davao prior to coming to Taiwan.
Another Filipino Lloyd Go signed a 70 in opening round and is now three-under with six holes to play Friday.
Joining Quiban in the gridlock at the top are Thais Pavit Tangkamolprasert, Nitithorn Thippong, Prachara Khongwatmai, Natipong Srithong and Swede Bjorn Hellgren.
