Filipinas advanced to the quarterfinal of the 19th Asian Games after a staggering 3-0 win over Myanmar at the Wenzhou Olympic Sports Centre Stadium in Wenzhou, China on Thursday.

Filipinas’ 1-0-1 win-loss record propelled the national squad to the knockout stage for the first time in history.

Sarina Bolden scored a penalty for the Philippines in the 13th minute before Sara Eggesvik netted a brace in the 60th and 61st minutes for the win.

The Filipinas will be up against Japan on 30 September at the same venue.

Meanwhile, swimmers Chloe Isleta, Xiandi Chua, Kayla Sanchez, and Teia Salvino finished 5th in the women’s 4×200-meter freestyle relay and set a new national record of 8:12.80 minutes at the Hangzhou Olympic Sports Centre Aquatic Sports Arena.
